SEARLSTUDIO.COM Celebrates 5th Year Anniversary
by Rebecca Winslow - October 2004

MIAMI BEACH - “An on-going journey where pastel meets the surreal,” promise the promoters of the SEARLSTUDIO.COM art exhibition and opening party in South Beach, Miami. In attendance at this plush contemporary Art Deco setting, is the who’s who of the local culture vultures and international art collectors and curators.

The gallery now celebrating its five years of existence, features photographic art and digital paintings by up and coming artist and photographer Stephan Earl. Organizers boast an almost completely new collection of artwork and black & white photographs, a newly designed website and the grand opening of its Online Store. “We listened to our patrons’ requests to offer merchandise featuring artwork from the site and we responded,” says marketing director Jonathan Starks.

The new Online Store features framed prints, t-shirts, mouse pads, cups, greeting cards, calendars and many more great gifts featuring Stephan’s artwork. The gallery teamed up with CafePress.com to produce high quality merchandise, and provide a secure online shopping environment. “We wanted the best quality merchandise for shoppers who may not be art collectors or dealers, and can't afford to spend thousandsof dollars for an original signed canvas,” says Starks. In addition, you can purchase high quality giclee canvas prints and posters directly from the website. Site navigation is superb allowing easy navigation from the gallery images to store merchandise and canvas prints. "I receive many comments and feedback through the site and upate the site on a monthly basis," says Stephan. "This allows me to really keep the content fresh and keep viewers coming back."

The new batch of artwork speaks to your imagination through pastel environments stitched together by a surreal view of common sites that flirt with your desire to be immerged within its realm. Stephan uses a modern palette and technique to

create sometimes classical themes with an overall sense of spiritual peace. Works like "The Muse" masterfully combine spiritual, musical and ethnical elements that tell a story of artist and inspiration. Stephan combines his original photographs and digitally painted elements into a montage that makes you forget of its photographic origins.

The recent addition of his original black and white photographs to the gallery add a sense of nostalgia and classic imagery. Although the majority of the black & white photographs are images of landscapes or architectural structures, they are anything but ordinary. "People were always asking me if I planned on displaying my original photographs," Stephan said "so I began looking into shooting some new works and keeping them in there original photographic state."

"These days I'm only shooting with my digital Canon," said Stephan "... you just can't beat the instant gratification of knowing that you've got the shot. I definately go for an organic feel to the image regardless of whether my final image will be a photo montage, digital painting or black & white photograph."

Overall, like the current exhibition in South Beach and the opening party, SEARLSTUDIO.COM is

a must see for art lovers who don’t believe you need a Ph.D to enjoy captivating works of art.
